Note Please: Each state, province or district is responsible for the examining and licensing of funeral service professionals. You should be aware of the exact requirements for licensure in the state/province/district in which you are seeking a professional license.

There may be some differences in the requirements for certification by The International Conference and the licensure laws and regulations of a state. A few states require higher scores in some of the sub-test areas than The Conference requires. Even though you score high enough to pass the National Board Examination, you may not meet that state's requirements for licensure in that area.

For example, a state may require that you score a minimum of 75 in Funeral Service Law regardless of your scores in other areas. Please check directly with the state(s) in which you are seeking licensure to ascertain whether and how state-specific requirements will affect you.
