Why do I have to pay to have my scores sent to a State Board?
One state is included in the fee for the exam. When you apply to take the NBE, you are asked to indicate the state (or states) to which you wish to have your scores sent. After that first state, you must pay an additional fee and provide a written request (see above).

The contacts at my state board say they haven't received my scores. What should I do?
Call us at 479.442.7076 first to find out why.
There are several possible reasons why your state doesn't have your NBE scores:
- You may have forgotten to indicate on your application which state(s) to which you wanted your scores sent. You have to do this EACH TIME you register for the exam. If you omitted this on your application, you will have to provide instructions IN WRITING (fax, e-mail or snail-mail) indicating which state(s) to which you want your scores sent.
- Your school may not have officially notified us that you completed your program. We can't release your scores to a state board until we have this on file.
- There may not have been time for the scores to arrive at the correct department at that state office.

Secondary Identification
A second form of identification with your signature on it. This can be a credit card with signature, social security card with signature, a student I.D. card with signature, a membership card (i.e., Sam's Card, PACE Card, etc.) or a notarized photograph with signature.
Registration Confirmation
You will receive a letter from Pearson VUE confirming your test appointment. You may want to bring this letter with you in case any questions arise as to your scheduled location and time.

If I don't pass, how long do I have to wait to retake my exam?
You must wait at least 30 days before retaking the exam. You may go ahead and submit your application and payment and make an appointment. You just won't be allowed to make the appointment for any sooner than 30 days from the date you last took that part of the exam.

Why do I have to wait to retake my exam?
Research proves that candidates who wait to retake the exam do better than those who do not wait. As your mother might say, "It's for your own good!" We urge you to use the interim to review, especially the areas where you scored poorly.
